Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
Director of Keele Business School
Salary commensurate with seniority of role
Professorial Grade
Keele University has a global reputation for innovative and transformative research, inspiring educational excellence and an outstanding student experience, reflected in a Gold award in the TEF. The University now seeks to appoint a new Director of Keele Business School (KBS), which was re-established as KBS in September 2019. The School, within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, is housed in a new state-of-the-art facility in the University’s Enterprise Zone. It shares the space with the Smart Innovation Hub, allowing academic and professional support staff and students to cohabit with entrepreneurs and SMEs. The School’s vision is to be recognised as an international Business School that transforms individual lives, enhances social bonds and contributes to the creation of sustainable value.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to a growing community of 900 students and roughly 30 academic staff offering degree programmes across seven core areas: Accounting; Economics; Finance; Management; International Business; Human Resource Management; and Marketing. The new Director shall draw upon strong and collaborative leadership skills to strengthen excellence in research and teaching across the School. They will be tasked with leading curriculum enhancement, improving the School’s research performance, driving up student recruitment, and engaging actively with local, national and international corporate partners. The appointee will report to the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, Professor Shane O’Neill, and will be a member of the Faculty Executive Group.
Candidates will bring substantial management experience and will have a track-record of research excellence in a relevant academic discipline. They will possess excellent relationship-building skills and will be capable of developing and delivering a strong vision for the School’s future. Ambitious, resilient and creative, the successful candidate will have successfully managed strategic change and will be capable of delivering growth in a complex environment. They will also be an effective external ambassador for the School. It is expected that the appointment be made at professorial level.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the strategic direction of a School that is central to the University’s ambitions.
Keele University values diversity, and is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity, and to proper and fair representation across its senior decision making groups.
