Senior Lecturer in Financial Technology (FinTech)

Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester

Location: Manchester, UK

Salary: £52,559 to £62,727 per annum (according to relevant experience)

Hours: Full-time

Contract: Permanent

Closing date: 31st May 2020

Following a 2.5million donation by Greensill, a leading British FinTech company founded by Lex Greensill, Alliance Manchester Business School at The University of Manchester is looking to appoint a tenure-track Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer). The appointment will have an emphasis on Financial Technology and be part of the School’s strategy to strengthen research and teaching on the topic and boost the region’s capacity and capability in Financial Technology (FinTech).

It is an exciting time to be based in Greater Manchester, one of Europe’s leading digital and technology clusters. The region is home more fintech start-ups and scale-ups than any other UK region outside London, and Manchester was the fastest growing tech city in Europe in 2019.

The anticipated start date for this faculty position is 1 September, 2020 but this is also negotiable based on circumstances.

We seek outstanding candidates with a strong academic background who will be comfortable engaging with the vibrant cross-disciplinary community of FinTech across the School and the University. You will be able to demonstrate commitment to produce original and innovative scholarly work and publish at top academic journals in their discipline and at the same time be comfortable in a business setting.

You should also be able to work with students in mentoring around the School’s FinTech Lab, design research projects, and attract grant money to FinTech research areas. Alliance MBS plans to set up a FinTech research centre and thus the above characteristics and those described in the person specification will be invaluable to this initiative.

You will have to contribute to the development and delivery of excellent teaching. You will also be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in a cross-disciplinary curriculum and work with colleagues to develop more content for new or existing FinTech courses.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments will be made on merit.
