Job Summary

The Caltech Library is currently seeking a Library Communication Coordinator. Reporting to the Head of Business and Operations, The Library Communication Coordinator will provide expertise and leadership in writing and communication strategies designed to inform, engage, and build relationships with campus and community partners. In collaboration with librarians, archivists, and staff across the Library, the Coordinator will create content that promotes Library resources, services, and programs to increase awareness and engagement with the Library, and the integration of the Library into teaching and learning at the Institute. This is an occasional position ending September 30, 2020. It reports to the Head of Business and Operations for the Caltech Library.

Job Duties

  • Leads content development for website and other print materials describing Library services and resources.
  • Identifies and develops strategies to enhance perceptions of the Library and engagement with Library resources, services, and programs.
  • Develops print and digital promotional materials that effectively communicate the Library’s mission, services, and news to a variety of audiences.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across multiple formats and with diverse audiences.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven writing ability; ability to communicate information precisely, interestingly, and objectively in written and verbal form.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a college setting. Ability to communicate with both students and faculty.
  • A creative approach to communications and problem solving.
  • Familiarity with web development tools; demonstrated design sensibility and ability to create effective visuals and visual layouts.
