At TU Dresden, "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Institute of Traffic Telematics seeks to appoint an outstanding candidate for the

Chair (W3) of Traffic Control and Process Automation

at the earliest possible date.

In both research and teaching, the Chair of Traffic Control and Automation focusses on future-oriented methods for the observation and control of transport systems and processes and on innovative concepts for improving their efficiency and sustainability.

We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated scientist who is internationally recognized in the field of control engineering of transport systems, using innovative approaches of automation and digitalization. We particularly encourage applications from candidates with expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • traffic control solutions within the scope of operational traffic management, in particular for real-time control of traffic processes,
  • automated driving or flying and collective intelligence within traffic systems,
  • estimation of state variables in the traffic system, in particular on the basis of real-time data.

We expect you to conduct independent methodical research in the field of control engineering, using, for example, approaches of artificial intelligence or machine learning. Data from the traffic control center VAMOS will be available for your research projects. Additionally, you will have a teaching obligation within the bachelor, master, and diplom programs of the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. Your ability to engage in academic selfadministration is required.

Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG). Experience in intermodal research is a plus. We welcome your application if you hold a successfully completed university degree in the field of transport sciences or related relevant disciplines, possess pedagogical aptitude as well as the special capability for scientific work, which is usually proven by the possession of a doctoral/PhD degree as well as further outstanding scientific achievements. Such achievements can be demonstrated through a Habilitation/postdoctoral qualification, a junior professorship, or other equivalent achievements. A willingness and ability to conduct classes in German and English is expected. We particularly appreciate your experience in applying for and carrying out research projects, in obtaining third-party funding (with special consideration given to DFG funding), and in the participation in successful international publication activities. Overall, we wish for an individual with a dedicated, responsible, and collaborative work ethic and style along with excellent communication and teamwork skills and the ability to motivate others.
