Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Dr Frank Lewis on a research project funded by National Nuclear Laboratory under the Advanced Fuel Cycle Programme for a fixed term period of 9.5 months. This project involves the organic synthesis of hydrophilic 1,2,4-triazine nitrogen donor ligands, and their evaluation as actinide-selective hydrophilic complexing agents in the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel solutions using radioanalytical techniques. You will have a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and have expertise in planning and executing multi-step synthetic sequences and in optimizing reaction conditions to improve yields. Previous experience in performing radioanalytical measurements (alpha and gamma spectroscopy, ICP-MS) is not required as training will be provided. Excellent organization, presentation and communication skills are also required.
