The University of Pennsylvania's child care center is for children ages three months to five years. Located on the University campus, the Center is administered by the Department of Business Services at Penn. Enrollment in the Penn Children's Center is open to all members of the University and surrounding communities with preference given to faculty, staff and students of the University. The Business Services Division (BSD) supports the individual and collective needs of the Penn community by promoting a hospitable, customer-friendly campus environment through the provision of mission-critical services and essential operations. BSD’s mission is to provide high-quality service in a fiscally responsible manner. The Division is currently focused on three major initiatives: Revenue growth/retention through improved marketing efforts, extended services, and development of new distribution channels; driving productivity for the Division and its customers through the better use of technology, and enhancing service offerings through upgrades and expansions of facilities. https://business-services.upenn.edu

This position is responsible for front desk management in a busy environment with high volume foot traffic, including children aged under six (6) years. The successful applicant will be responsible for greeting children, parents, guests, and monitoring the reception area, as well as several administrative tasks. A thorough background check for working with minors will be required for any successful applicant. This position provides basic secretarial, administrative and other programmatic support to managers, employees, students and office visitors by handling a variety of administrative and clerical tasks in order to ensure that all interactions between the organization and others are positive and productive. The ability to multi-task, while maintaining complex schedules and managing administrative support, is essential in this position. Assuring a steady completion of workload in a timely manner is key to success in this position.

Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or GED Required, with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service in busy reception environment. Strong communication, organizational and collaboration skills required. Strong Microsoft Office skills required, including experience using advanced Excel functions, email, websites and databases. Evidence of initiative and adaptability to change required. Experience working with a diverse group of staff and families desirable.
