Job Description

The Associate Director for Sponsored Research is responsible for managing the financial operations related to research activities in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, including but not limited to preparing financial portfolios, long term financial planning, resolving funding issues, providing post award administration support to investigators, and assisting in the management of non-grant funds involved in research activities. The Associate Director will oversee grants area personnel, ensuring staff compliance and providing supervision and development. The incumbent will also act as a Departmental liaison to the research services offices in the School of Medicine and University, representing the Department on various committees related to research.

Master's degree, preferably in Accounting, Business, Finance and  5 to 7 years’ experience in sponsored program administration; preferably in a Medical School academic or Medical Center environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Thorough knowledge of established accounting systems, standards and practices. Thorough knowledge of school/department policies and procedures, academic issues and programs. Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills.
