Head of School of Psychology

Salary commensurate with seniority of role

Professorial Grade plus Head of School allowance

As part of the continued successful development of Keele University's School of Psychology, we are seeking to appoint a new Head of School, who should be a strong leader with a reputable personal research profile. This post is a key appointment which will be of central importance in enhancing the School’s research ambitions, increasing numbers of postgraduate, distance-learning and international students, and extending the School’s profile regionally, nationally and internationally.  As an inspirational and ambitious Head of School, you will provide leadership in research and unite staff behind a common vision, as well as raising performance, ensuring consistency of practice, and fostering a stronger school culture. You will be strongly encouraged to continue to develop your own competitive research career. You will be appointed as a Professor on an indefinite basis. The appointment as Head, which carries an additional salary allowance, will be for five years in the first instance.

Keele University has an international reach, a reputation for world-class research, high quality research-led education and an outstanding student experience, reflected in a Gold award in the TEF.  We aim to build on the impact of our broad academic and research programmes, having invested heavily over the past 10 years in the campus and infrastructure.

The School of Psychology is recognised nationally and internationally for its excellence in research and teaching. You will have excellent leadership skills and will bring proven academic management experience coupled with the ability to motivate and inspire staff. You will be an outstanding research leader in your own right and will promote a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration and lead the School to further develop a visible and distinctive research identity which complements the established excellence of Keele’s learning and teaching environment.

Company

Keele University was founded more than 60 years ago on the belief that they met the demands of a new kind of society, economy and world. The university feels these principles resonate now more than ever.

Nestled in 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the UK, Keele is the largest campus based university and has a cosmopolitan community, with more than 150 clubs and societies to join, as well as shops, cafes, bars, an award-winning Students’ Union and a health centre.

Keele University delivers a range of academic courses and research across a variety of subjects, from health and humanities to social and natural sciences. They teach in small groups, provide one-to-one access to their academics and value the quality of their teaching as highly as their research.

Over the last decade, the university has invested over £140 million into the campus, including a £2.7 million transformation at the centre of campus. The university offers more than 3,000 bedrooms on campus and is hoping to increase this to over 4,000 over the next few years.

Keele University successively ranks at the very top of student satisfaction surveys.

Whatever your area of study, their distinctive and flexible approach to teaching and learning will open your mind to challenge and build a broader based knowledge.
