SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST, edX, to develop data products and drive better decision making across the edX organization and its partners. Will have a major and highly visible impact on the mission to provide high quality education globally as edX builds its data team.  Responsibilities will include providing data and analysis to support decisions across all departments and for end customers; influencing decisions at all levels of the organization, including presenting findings to senior leadership; performing quantitative research on large data sets; mentoring other data scientists, analysts, and engineers and providing scientific support across all departments; guiding and potentially participating in the software implementation of data products; and innovating new ways data science can be used to support the organization and its mission. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  at least five years’ data science research experience, ideally with at least three years’ experience in industry and/or a Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline; extensive hands-on experience working with large, real world data; demonstrated strong business orientation; strong programming and algorithm development skills as applied to working with large data sets (e.g., in Python, R, SQL, Spark); a bias for action and a results orientation; attention to experimental design, causality, bias, and significance; attention to detail; excellent communication skills; and ability to work as part of a team. Experience with learning science or clickstream data preferred.  Job #18396-Q
