ASSISTANT DEAN FOR STUDENT SUPPORT AND ADVISINGOffice of Graduate Education (OGE)(2 openings), to provide consultation to graduate students on matters related to academic and personal well-being.  Will serve as liaison to departments, faculty, and administrators that serve graduate students on matters of graduate policies and procedures, contribute to the development of protocols, programs, and procedures; provide guidance on issues that impact the graduate student experience; develop and support student-centered activities and programs; facilitate the process for graduate student voluntary leaves of absence; work closely with graduate student groups and residences to increase their awareness and use of resources that support their development, success, and satisfaction; assist in gathering data that inform strategic planning for support of graduate students; represent OGE at relevant programs and activities for graduate students and in appropriate external venues; and support and administer special projects as defined by the senior associate dean/director for graduate education.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a minimum of four years’ experience in a university environment; an advanced degree, preferably with specific training and experience in counseling or student affairs at the graduate level; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to set priorities, take initiative, and manage multiple demands in a busy office setting; experience working with diverse student constituencies; and demonstrated ability to work creatively with institutional policies and apply sound judgment in dealing with administrative issues. Knowledge of MIT administrative procedures highly desirable. Job #17720-9

Salary range:  $75 - 90,000
