POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Laboratory for Nuclear Science-Experimental High Energy Physics Group, to work on the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) experiment. Will play a major role in a group that has taken a leading role in the discovery of the Higgs bosons at 125 GeV and presently focuses on searching for dark matter and learning more about the Higgs physics. The MIT group is involved in several detector projects, including data acquisition, the Hadron Calorimeter upgrade, the new High Granularity Calorimeter, and computing projects. A Tier-2 computer center, providing resources for data analysis both locally and as part of the CMS computing grid, is operated at MIT. The postdoctoral associate will take major responsibility in the Tier-2 computing center and in the recently started software development and operation of dynamic data management in CMS.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics; excellent data analysis, computing, and programming skills; and the ability to carry out an independent research program. Job #13348
The appointment is initially for one year and renewable annually, subject to mutual satisfaction.
