The Role Durham University seeks to appoint an exceptional researcher and scholar as an Assistant Professor with research interests in the broad field of Health with an interest in Multimorbidities, ageing and frailty and/or Prevention, early intervention and behaviour change. Holding a PhD, we are seeking creative, high quality researchers and scholars to foster a culture of exploration, discovery and intellectual challenge that generates international recognition, respect and engagement.

Our vision for the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) is to achieve 'Better, fairer health and care at all ages and in all places'. We are a regional network of clinicians, public health and social care practitioners, policy makers, commissioners, service providers, charity and voluntary workers, lay members and researchers who are all focused on applied research and innovation to prevent illness, improve care and sustainability, promote population health and reduce health inequalities. The NENC Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) is hosted by the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust with partners across regional NHS, social care and higher education organisations. 

The core funding provided by NIHR is £9 million for 5 years from 1st October 2019. However regional partners have contributed significant amounts of additional finance and support "in kind" from their staff in order to expand the capacity of ARC activities, enhance engagement and encourage early implementation of evidence-based recommendations.
