The Faculty is one of the largest in the UK and is nationally and internationally renowned as a centre of innovation for its teaching, learning and research. Currently home to around 6,500 students, 400 staff  with significant TNE activity, we are continuing to experience growth and are expanding our international reach, and enterprise activity.

For over 40 years we have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, leading multi-million pound research projects that have an international impact. Our first class research teams, supported by excellent facilities and working in collaboration with global partners, are providing the scientific and engineering advances that underpin the development of new technology for wealth creation, sustainable development and improvement safety and security in people’s personal and professional lives. Our research is proactively addressing key challenges facing the 21st-century world: identifying renewable and alternative energy; developing safer, smarter and ‘greener’ transport; combating the effects of climate change; and protecting communities and their environments.

Our new Associate Dean will support the delivery of the Faculty’s strategy and business plan in relation to our enterprise and innovation strategy.  Working directly with the PVC Enterprise and Innovation, and on behalf of the Academic Dean, the post holder will determine how to translate this core pillar of our Corporate Plan at a faculty level and provide the leadership to drive effective delivery of the relevant local targets.  

Candidates will bring experience of managing a relevant academic operation and a track record in leading the identification, development and maintenance of commercial partnerships and collaborations. In overseeing the Faculty’s commercial activity, the role requires high level negotiation, influencing and enabling skills in representing the University with a local, national and global client base.
