Contract: Temporary

The appointment is 0.3fte and available from 18th May 2020 – 24th February 2021.

The project aims to investigate the current peer review processes and feedback mechanisms underpinning the award of Wellcome Trust funding, with the aim to foster a healthier, more inclusive research culture.  The project aims to develop guidelines for the provision of standardised feedback to failed proposals in a formative manner that can increase the chance of their application achieving funding on its future iterations.  It is led by Dr Gemma Derrick, with Co-Investigator Dr Richard Klavans from Proposal Dynamics and is to be co-produced along with the Wellcome Trust.

You will be based at Lancaster University and will be responsible for the administration and management of the project, as well as for designing, delivering and analysing quantitative surveys.  You will take a lead role in maintaining the project website and managing the team’s outreach and deliverables.  You will also, in partnership with the PI, assist in the quantitative linguistic analysis of proposals.

You will work alongside a part time quantitative RA and work towards the integration of both sets of data towards achieving the project goals. You will review and critically analyze literature, prepare analytical and summative papers, prepare new data sets, write up results of research in reports and in peer reviewed journal articles. You will also contribute to public seminars, public outreach and events in coordination with the Wellcome Trust.
