We wish to appoint one individual to a Senior Lecturer/Reader position (equivalent to Associate/Senior Associate Professor) in the Information Systems Group within the Department of Management Science at Lancaster University Management School. 

The Information Systems group focuses broadly on socio-technical approaches to the design, development, management and use of information systems.  We are looking for an individual who will bring a strong record of leadership in research, publications and external funding. Interests within the Lancaster Information Systems group area cover a range of domains and industry sectors. You will have interests in Information Systems that complement or overlap. You will also be able to provide discipline leadership in the areas of curriculum design and programme management. You will have a PhD and be able to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate / MBA levels, in areas that complement or overlap with the current interests and requirements of the Information Systems group.   

For appointment at the Senior Lecturer level, you will have a demonstrable record of high quality publications commensurate with their experience.  

Appointment at the Reader level will require a sustained record of high quality publications commensurate with your advanced experience. 

The Management Science Department employs about 45 established  academic staff, in addition to a high number of research students and a dedicated support team. Members of the Department work on a wide range of research topics and methodological approaches.  These include positivist, interpretive and critical theoretical approaches, across information systems, supply chain management, operations management and operations research.    

The IS group is involved in various masters and undergraduate programmes related to digital business management and innovation, business analytics and consulting, along with the MBA and the MSc in Management.  The IS group collaborates with research in other departments/faculties at Lancaster University, including Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Computer Science, Organization Work and Technology, and Sociology.  The Department more broadly is involved in other research-based programmes including an EPSRC-funded Doctoral Training Centre in operations research (STOR-i).

Student Wellbeing Services are looking for a highly motivated and organised person for the role of Digital Transition Officer within the Transitions team.  

You will contribute to the digital development and co-ordination of a broad package of pre- and post-entry student support programmes, events and services.  Support will be focused on improving the transition to University and the student experience of specific Widening Participation (WP) groups including disabled students and mature students.  You will need experience of developing on-line training or support, and of developing and designing attractive web content.  You will need the ability to work independently as well as the skills to collaborate with colleagues to develop effective schemes and services.You should have experience of collection and analysing data, as well as excellent organisation and problem solving skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.  

You will need to be able to communicate and work with a wide variety of people including students, staff, parents, external organisations and colleagues within Student and Education Services. You should have experience of preparing written reports and the ability to present evaluation data in a meaningful way for a variety of audiences. Knowledge and understanding of disability would be an advantage.  Occasionally working out of normal office hours including evening and weekends will be required.
