Research Fellowship (Assoc Prof. Matthew Chang’s Lab)
The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellowship in the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be made on 1-Year contract basis. There will be a probation period of 3 months from the Commencement Date. At the end of the probation period, an assessment of the performance will be made. Two Independent Reports will be made by Group Leaders.
Purpose of the post
The Research Fellow (RF) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and a team of researchers on the goals set out for the projects of interest. The RF’s principal role will be to work on biofoundry platform.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Research Fellow is expected to:
(1) Provide technical support to manage analytical and automated instruments in biofoundry, which includes maintaining equipment, conducting trainings to users, and resolving technical issues;
(2) Operate equipment used in biofoundry, assist users in developing and optimizing methods and workflow, and assist in data analysis;
(3) Provide administrative support to operate and maintain Biofoundry, such as coordinating the use of biofoundry equipment, handling biofoundry-related paperwork;
(4) Assist in any other duties that are delegated by the Principal Investigator.
Qualifications
The applicant should:
(a) Hold a Ph.D degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, biological science, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related area;
(b) Have decent experiences on using biofoundry equipment such as liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, bioreactor, liquid handling system, or in vitro and in vivo high-throughput analytic systems;
(c) Be motivated and able to learn new analytic skillsets and train users;
(d) Be able to work independently and in a team, and have an investigative nature and attention to detail;
(e) Have good knowledge of analytical softwares used for biofoundry equipment;
(f) Have strong background and research experience in analytics based on omics, automation, or scripting; and
(g) Have a strong record of international publications.
