Research Fellowship (Assoc Prof. Yew Wen Shan’s Lab)
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship position in the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be on a 1-year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension. Fresh PhD holders are welcome.
Purpose of the post
The Research Fellow (RF) will be responsible to, and work closely with the Principal Investigator and a team of researchers on the goals set out for the project(s) of interest. The RF’s principal role will be to develop molecular tools and engineer non-canonical microorganisms such as Yarrowia lipolytica.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Research Fellow is expected to:
(1) Develop molecular tools of non-canonical microorganisms such as Yarrowia lipolytica.
(2) Engineer microbes for commercial and industrial applications.
(3) Assist in maintaining various equipment such as HPLC and mass spectrometry.
(4) Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
The applicant should:
(a) Hold a PhD in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry or related disciplines
(b) Be able to work independently and in a team, and have an investigative nature & attention to details
(c) Have extensive knowledge and hand-on experience on molecular biology, biochemistry and metabolic engineering of microbes for the production of targeted metabolites
(d) Have basic knowledge on the usage and maintenance of HPLC & mass spectrometry
