CENTRE FOR INNOVATIVE SERVICE-LEARNING
The Centre for Innovative Service-Learning implements a comprehensive service-learning programme in the University’s formal and co-curricula. It connects community partners to academic units in the University, provides the necessary administrative support, and arranges training and support for staff and students involved in service-learning. It also collaborates with academic units and community partners in designing service-learning projects that meet the needs of both the community and students.
The University is now looking for innovative and dynamic applicants to lead the Centre.
Reporting to the Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), the appointee assumes a leadership role in the formulation and implementation of policies as well as the execution of the service-learning programme. He/She will actively work with community partners and academic units to design, implement and evaluate various service-learning projects, and help solicit community support for such projects. He/She will supervise a team of staff and oversee the day-to-day administration of the Centre and the management of a co-working space under the Centre.
Applicants should possess a higher degree in a relevant field and at least ten years of experience in higher education and/or community service at a senior level. The appointee must have a visionary outlook for and strong commitment to whole-person development of university students, experience in advising or supporting students on outside-classroom learning and extensive community connections. He/She should be capable of working independently and being an effective leader. Good communication and organisational skills, creativity, resourcefulness, self-motivation and strategic thinking are essential qualities of the appointee. Occasional travelling will be required.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
