Description
The University of Chicago's Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care, in the Biological Sciences Division, is searching for a Research Assistant Professor whose primary activity will be academic research in association with a faculty member or team. The appointee will best contribute to a research project on testing a novel gene therapy for treating drug abuse. We are interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying drug addiction and in testing possible treatment approaches. We use behavioral, genetic, anatomical and molecular biological methods. Specifically, we should like to further test a novel skin stem cell-based method to deliver therapeutic genes to treat drug abuse and co-abuse in mouse models; we welcome applicants with expertise in neuropharmacology or molecular and cellular biology, experience with behavioral pharmacology related to drug abuse, and/or experience in microdialysis and LC-MS. The appointee will have the opportunity to work within an outstanding neuroscience research community with state-of-the-art facilities, and to interact closely with a substance abuse research-focused group supported by an NIH training grant.
Applicants must have 1) a doctoral degree or equivalent, and 2) completed postdoctoral training.
To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/74103 .
