  • Opportunity for a Research Fellow to contribute to the research activities related for a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funded project
  • Located at the Charles Perkins Centre on the Camperdown Campus
  • Full-time, 2 years with a possibility of one year’s extension, with a base salary of $106K - $126K p.a., plus leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation

About the opportunity 

The Research Fellow will conduct research related to an NHMRC funded project (Development of a novel framework to maximise population health gains through high intensity incidental physical activity- HIIPA) and the Prospective Physical Activity, Sitting, and Sleep Consortium (ProPASS).

The primary functions of the role include contributing to the management, data collection, analysis and reporting of the above research projects and making an independent contribution to research through leadership of components of these and other research projects.

The incumbent will contribute to the activities of the Theme of physical activity, exercise, and energy expenditure at the Charles Perkins Centre and you will lead Charles Perkins Centre research project nodes that are relevant to the project.

About you

  • a PhD (or close to completion) or equivalent in a relevant health-related discipline e.g. physical activity, exercise science, exercise physiology
  • experience of project management in an academic research environment
  • familiarity with epidemiology methods and demonstrated ability to carry out statistical analyses of large databases of health related data
  • a proven ability to undertake quantitative data collection and analysis
  • a demonstrated record of leadership and substantial contribution to peer reviewed publications in high quality journals
  • a demonstrated record of contributing to competitive grant applications and/or acquiring research fellowship
  • outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • excellent English language skills (written and oral).
