As part of the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States, the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at TU Dresden, invites applications for the

Junior Professorship (W1) in Medical Internet of Things
(with tenure track to W2)

with an initial four years contract, to be filled not later than 01.10.2020. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract will be extended to a total of six years. After five years at the latest, a tenure evaluation will be carried out by a TU Dresden school-wide evaluation commission. Following a positive evaluation, a permanent Chair (W2) of Medical Internet of Things will be granted without a renewed selection process.

Evaluation criteria, mutually agreed upon when the position is accepted, will form the basis of the evaluation procedures. Essential elements of the evaluations will be scientific success accounted for by the development of an independent research profile in the field of Medical Internet of Things (IoT) as well as its realisation in the form of reviewed subject-relevant and high-quality publications, successful acquisition of third-party research funds, initiation of collaborative projects within the faculty and with DRESDEN-concept partners, networking in the international scientific community, as well as the development of innovative teaching contents with positively evaluated teaching performances.

The successful candidate should represent biomedical engineering in teaching and research with a particular focus on one or more of the following fields by:

  • Communication networks, protocols and IoT standards for biomedical technology
  • Application software and AI-based analysis for medical sensor data
  • Telemedical device and system technology for home and clinical use
  • Data security and encryption technologies for IoT in biomedical technology
  • Real-time monitoring of clinical workflows for quality assurance and risk assessment.

An interdisciplinary research profile is preferred. The Junior Professorship is involved in basic and advanced courses in the interdisciplinary diploma course "Biomedical Engineering" to be set up and in minor subject training for other faculties. It is particularly desirable to take over basic lectures in medical technology, for example “Digital Medical Technology”, “Medical Approval Procedure”, “Telemedicine” and “Bio-Signal Processing”. The successful candidate will be required to teach 4 academic hours per week. Other duties include participation in academic selfadministration.
