TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Love Lab, to enable and execute experiments focused on analyzing recombinant proteins. Will apply working knowledge of current techniques in analytical and protein biochemistry. Duties will include protein quantification and characterization following cultivation, including SDS-PAGE, Western blot, ELISA, BCA, HPLC, RPLC, LC-MS, and the implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures and data records related to this research. The work will involve interact with a knowledgeable and friendly multidisciplinary team of scientists who are part of a larger initiative developing an integrated platform to manufacture therapeutic recombinant proteins using a microbial host. The position offers an opportunity to make visible and recognized contributions to scientific research and cross-train in new technical areas.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: B.S. (M.S. desirable) in a relevant scientific field (engineering, analytical chemistry, biochemistry); at least two years’ experience; industrial/academic laboratory experience; experience with protein analytical techniques, including SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and ELISA; meticulous attention to detail; excellent analytical, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills; collaborative and proactive approach; ability to liaise with investigators and document effective protocols; commitment to producing accurate, reproducible, and high-quality work; awareness of basic safety issues and procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment; experience presenting data clearly in slide format; and a focus on continued skill building and career development. Must be able to multitask; prioritize, plan, and coordinate multiple experiments/work assignments simultaneously; adapt to rapidly changing program needs; and work with and maintain technical instruments/equipment.
PREFERRED: experience with chromatographic techniques and mass spectrometry, background in microbial cultivation for recombinant protein expression, experience with automated liquid handling, and a prior publication record. Job #17835
