Job description
We are looking for someone who can contribute to the direction and strategy of the Entrepreneurship Subject group, which has grown in numbers and strength over the past two years. Entrepreneurship modules are central to the Business programmes, both on campus and online, and underpin the Business School's mission of empowerment, enterprise and employability for all. We also have a suite of programmes and modules for commercial clients and people in full-time work.
The Business School is one of the largest modern Business Schools in Scotland and at the leading edge of innovation, with a strong academic reputation in undergraduate, postgraduate, executive education, and business research. It has an established track record of a high level of engagement and collaborative working with business and professional networks.
Many of our academic staff engage in consultancy and contract research activities and are committed to developing and applying their expertise across a range of applied themes. They maintain close links with industry, through professional body memberships, Knowledge Transfer Programmes, and both Placement and Live Project module supervision. An increasing percentage of our staff is also involved in research projects and research supervision, with research and scholarship underpinning our programme development activity. Our Craiglockhart Campus location is 10 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh.

The role
The role requires you to demonstrate and develop:

These criteria are across each of our employment pathways. You will evidence them in a variety of ways through Research, Learning and Teaching, Enterprise, Professional Practice.
As an Associate Professor you will be highly visible in the Entrepreneurship Subject group, the Business School and the University. You will lead/teach on at least one Entrepreneurship or Professional Project module, and team-teach on an Innovation Module at PG level. You might lead a programme, or act as deputy for a programme. You will be required to supervise UG and PG dissertations.
You will source and conduct collaborative, as well as individual, research or commercial engagement projects, which contribute to the profile of the Business School. You will contribute significantly to the University's objective of growing our academic reputation for research informed and engaged student learning.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking someone who can inspire colleagues and students by engaging in research or other collaboration with industry to bring our taught Entrepreneurship modules to life.
In addition to the role profile (click here), the following criteria are essential:
- A doctoral level qualification in the relevant discipline
- Evidence of a professional academic and research profile alongside a commitment to sustained continuous professional/academic development.
- Sufficient breadth and depth of experience in specialism to develop high quality teaching/learning and research programmes and have experience of research led teaching and/or training.
- Demonstrable evidence of a teaching specialisation in entrepreneurship and innovation.
