The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney is one of the largest and preeminent engineering faculties in the world. For the past 50 years, the University has been undertaking leading research in Computer Science.
The field of computer science has experienced tremendous growth in the last few years. Its impact on society is unquestioned, and enrollments have skyrocketed. To meet these challenges and take advantage of these opportunities, the School of Computer Science at the University of Sydney has grown considerably over the last few years, and substantial growth is foreseen for the coming years. Lifting the bar on research and education in digital sciences forms a major pillar of the Faculty of Engineering’s strategy for the next 5 years.
We are seeking a Head of School to join the leadership team in steering this exciting academic venture and lead the School of Computer Science on this growth trajectory, using this opportunity to continue to strengthen the school’s teaching, research and outreach programs.
The ideal candidate will have an impressive track record of establishing and growing leading research and teaching programs. They will bring strategic leadership skills and an outstanding ability to manage stakeholder relations on behalf of an institution or school. We are looking for a leader with an openness to engagement and creativity; someone who operates at the forefront of innovation in computer science.

Term and remuneration
The term of the appointment is four years. This position will also be supported by an underlying continuing position as a Professor in the school. A competitive salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Relocation assistance will also be provided if required.
