About the opportunity 

This position is within the Sydney Translational Imaging Laboratory (STIL); Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. You will be joining a dynamic and highly successful collaborative research program, headed by Professor Stuart Grieve (Parker Hughes Chair of Radiology, University of Sydney).The research program is aimed applying advanced cardiac imaging techniques to common clinical problems using big data approaches including AI.

We are aiming to develop a platform from which to form a complete energetic and functional assessment of cardiovascular flow and function. Our lab images across a range of clinical sites and has access to large numbers of well-defined clinical groups of patients. We also have well developed and extensive national and international collaborations.

The program incorporates a substantial multidisciplinary research effort involving advanced cardiac MRI, cardiac physiology, imaging processing, computational fluid dynamics and programming.

About you

  • a relevant higher degree (or four years of tertiary study or equivalent qualifications and experience)preferably with a background in scientific medical research, engineering, or computer science
  • an interest in AI and the numeric analysis of the cardiovascular system, an expertise and experience in programming is desirable
  • a track record of producing high quality research that has been published in leading internationally recognised journals
  • experience in assisting with student supervision including supervision of honours students and potentially the co-supervision of PHD students

In addition to the above, to be considered for STIL Postdoctoral Scientist(LevelB) you will also have:

  • experience in research or scholarly activities, which have resulted in publications in, refereed journals or other demonstrated scholarly activities
  • carried out independent and/or team research
  • at times supervised postgraduate research students or projects and be involved in research training
