About the opportunity 

The Senior Administration Officer manages the activities of the School's General Offices and provides advice and assistance to the School Administration Manager in relation to the management of the School's resources including staff, facilities, equipment, purchasing, maintenance and events. The Senior Administration Officer manages general administrative support including responding to complex queries, exploring matters, and sourcing solutions for the work area. The position will also provide supervision, guidance and support to other administrative staff and help to analyse matters and provide advice on policy and procedures for the delivery of work outcomes. The Senior Administration Officer is also required to take on the role of Work, Health and Safety Officer, this requires monitoring and engaging with staff on all matters relating to WHS within the school.

  • excellent planning and organisational skills, including experience in establishing and reviewing administrative processes

  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • Previous experience in staff supervision.

The School of Literature, Art and Media (SLAM) is one of six schools in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and is comprised of the departments of Art History, English, Linguistics, Religion Studies, Theatre and Performance Studies and Media and Communications, Sydney College of the Arts and the programs of Film Studies, Digital Cultures, Museum Studies, Australian Literature, Celtic Studies, Medieval Studies, and Writing Studies. The School offers study at undergraduate, honours, postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research level. SLAM is one of the largest schools in the Faculty with an equivalent full-time student load of 1900.
