A Research Associate is required within the School of Life Sciences to support a project in collaboration with partners in China entitled ‘Novel biocontrol to combat Clostridium perfringens in poultry flocks’. Ideally you will have a strong background in microbiology/molecular biology and some knowledge of bacteriophage technology.

The post holder will be involved in laboratory-based investigations to study bacteriophages for the anaerobic pathogen Clostridium perfringens as a potential means of controlling farm animals. The primary role will be to characterise relevant bacteriophages both biochemically and genetically. The work envisaged is with category 2 organisms in Lincoln and may involve periods of travel to China to learn new techniques and regularly discuss progress with collaborators in both the UK and China. Candidates fluent in Chinese would be highly desirable.
