This is an exciting time to join the dynamic and vibrant Criminology team at Northumbria University. As one of the largest Criminology teams in the UK we are looking to further develop our staffing base with colleagues who value both research and pedagogical excellence.  Our suite of criminology programmes includes a Foundation Year, undergraduate and postgraduate provision, and most recently we’ve introduced BSc Professional Policing and are delivering the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeships in partnership with local police forces.  These partnerships are allowing us, through the Centre for Crime and Policing Research, to further develop our research excellence and forge, new, innovative multi-disciplinary themes. 

The successful candidate will join the Department of Social Sciences and will work in a thriving and busy team which includes world-leading researchers in policing, criminal justice, social harm, environmental crime and victimology.   

You will be responsible for contributing to an exceptional student experience through the delivery of teaching, research, business and enterprise engagement activity. You will be able to work with traditional students as well as Professional students (such as those on the PCDA).  We are looking for a colleague who shares our values and passion for teaching and is committed to providing the highest quality student experience.   You must also have outstanding research outputs with clear research plans for the future including around grant capture.   You will utilise this expertise to deliver outstanding research informed teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Criminology at Northumbria is located in our interdisciplinary Department of Social Sciences and successful candidates will show a willingness and aptitude to work across disciplinary boundaries with colleagues in Law; International Development and International Relations and Sociology.
