We are looking for a dedicated, experienced Operations Manager to work with and support The Centre Director, Professor Vissel, in this endeavour.

Detailed Description          

The operations manager position may appeal to a person who has previously been a senior highly experienced Executive Assistant or who has had a major administrative role requiring efficient management of numerous and sometimes sensitive responsibilities.

The Operations Manager is ultimately accountable to the Manager of the School of Life Sciences in the Faculty of Science but on a day-to-day basis, effectively reports to the Centre Director. The Operations Manager contributes to the objective of maximising outcomes for CNRM by providing many aspects of administrative support to the CNRM Director, including, but not limited to:

  • Review proposals prior to submission for accuracy, style, and to ensure compliance
  • Provide financial advice relating to grants and funding as required and maintain awareness of, and advise on, CNRM finances
  • Plan, coordinate and provide strategic advice to enquiries and information requests from the Centre staff, UTS community and from external parties in relation to a range of sensitive issues in consultation with the Centre Director
  • Manage numerous day-to-day matters for the Centre Director as outlined in the Position Description
  • Prepare correspondence and reports to funding body, government and industry partners, researchers and University management as directed
  • Help manage strategic communications internally and externally
  • Consult with stakeholders as agreed and provide specialist advice to the Centre Director on issues as they arise
  • Coordinate Centre activities across sites as required by the Centre Director.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Demonstrated superior and effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of staff at various levels across the University and externally.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills and ability to contribute to continuous improvement in operations, processes and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated capacity for dealing effectively with people and stakeholders, and understanding of managing information with sensitivity and confidentiality
  • The ability to interpret and provide advice on policy and procedure.
  • Experience in communication through newsletters and reports
  • Experience in administrative tasks such as calendar and expense management and responding to emails of various complexity and dealing with related issues
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent level of knowledge gained from a combination of experience and training.
  • Experience in the timely provision of excellent client service in a high pressured administrative or project environment.
  • An understanding of the Position Description and an ability to work across a variety of tasks as described in the Position Description

Remuneration/Salary          

Base Salary Range: $90,062 to $99,631 pa (HEW 7)

This role attracts 9.5% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
