The Bristol Cyber Security Group, led by Professor Awais Rashid, is seeking to appoint a Research Associate for 12 months. The group forms part of the Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR) at University of Bristol.

You will join a catalyser project from PETRAS, the UK National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cyber Security, focussing upon the Cyber Security of Food Security (CyFOO). Specifically, you will be studying the impact of malicious actors and vulnerabilities on the food supply.

You will play a key-role in the experimental design, including the development of a cyber security testbed for AgriTech devices and its integration into the Bristol Cyber Security Group’s state-of-the-art infrastructures testbed. This is an experimental research post with hands-on research work in collaboration with other researchers and academics in the group, the wider ACE-CSR and importantly with AgriTech users.

You will join a thriving and growing team of over 45 researchers engaged in cyber security research and bring a strong ethos of real-world usable tools to the research being conducted in the group. Experience of cyber security, specifically cyber-physical systems security including the internet-of-things, is an essential requirement for this role as is demonstrable experience of studying vulnerabilities in cyber-physical systems through experimental, hands-on, research.

The Group participates in several major initiatives, including leading the AgriTech sector within PETRAS, leading projects as part of the Research Institute on Science of Cyber Security (RISCS) and the Research Institute on Trustworthy Cyber-

Physical Systems (RITICS), and leading the programme of work on developing a Cyber Security Body of Knowledge (CyBOK). The group also leads an EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training on Trust, Identity, Privacy and Security in Large-scale Infrastructures. There is a strong expectation that you will actively contribute to the strong profile of Cyber Security at Bristol and its inter-disciplinary ethos through participation in the development and publication of research results.

For informal discussion about the post you are welcome to contact: Professor Awais Rashid (awais.rashid@bristol.ac.uk) or Dr Barney Craggs (barney.craggs@bristol.ac.uk).

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
