Australia’s University of Enterprise

At UniSA, we educate global professionals ready to create and inspire change, and we deliver research that is informed by end users, as well as inspired by global challenges and opportunities, to deliver economic and social prosperity.

You’ll enjoy a dynamic and agile culture, with a “can do” attitude, which thrives on breaking new ground.

We look for those with the right knowledge, with creativity and a can-do attitude, who know how to communicate and collaborate. We value people who are inspired by new challenges, who ask questions and propose solutions, who are authentic, engaged and committed to our goals as a university.

The University is embarking on an ambitious plan, Enterprise 25, to place People, Programs and Precincts at the heart of the University’s operations. This will position UniSA as the go-to university for people who want successful global careers, as well as for industry and the professions that want to collaborate with our researchers to drive and create their own futures.

As part of this transformation, we are creating seven new Academic Units to support our Enterprise 25 strategy, and enable a greater focus on the quality of our teaching, research and student experience.

About UniSA Justice and Society

UniSA Justice and Society is a new Academic Unit addressing areas of critical social need through quality teaching, learning and research excellence.

UniSA Justice and Society offers a wide range of degrees and conducts world-class research in the fields of law, psychology, social work, human services and social sciences. Our researchers are exploring a diverse range of topics including the efficacy of legal institutions and legal process, corporate law, ageing, workplace mental health and psychosocial risk factors, youth issues, cognition and health, bullying and harassment, Aboriginal social issues, and learning and sleep. Drawing from this unique combination of expertise, we are able to develop new knowledge and multi-disciplinary solutions to some of society’s most pressing issues.

About the Job

As an enterprising and dynamic institution, UniSA is recognised by governments, business, employers and the community for its commitment to research and enterprise, ranked world-class in research in law1 and social work2, and well above world-class research in psychology3.

The Dean of Research will lead the development and delivery of the strategy for high-quality research within UniSA Justice and Society; deliver research plans, activities and reporting of the research centres, concentrations and groups within the Unit and ensure continuous improvement in the quality, relevance, impact and growth of local, national and international research collaborations.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to provide high-level strategic leadership and to foster research innovation in a unique and modern university setting. An individual with a distinguished research profile in a discipline area that complements the research strengths and direction of UniSA Justice and Society, will find the role an opportunity to shape the future direction of the research agenda and position UniSA Justice and Society for the decades ahead.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and visionary leader with an outstanding record of achievement in strengthening research outcomes within an increasingly competitive international higher education environment.

Benefits on Offer

We offer a competitive remuneration package that includes generous superannuation contributions, relocation support and a range of other benefits including a family friendly approach to ensure you enjoy a healthy work/life balance and enviable lifestyle working and living in Adelaide.

UniSA recently attained Athena SWAN Bronze accreditation as part of the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) program to promote gender equity and diversity in STEMM in Australia. This is a significant achievement for the University and we are among the first universities in Australia to gain the accreditation.

Our commitment to SAGE aligns with our commitment to growing a diverse workforce and gaining Athena SWAN Bronze is an important first step towards achieving our E25 ambition of being a high performing, culturally enterprising organisation and attaining University wide Gold Accreditation.
