Australia’s University of Enterprise

At UniSA, we educate global professionals ready to create and inspire change, and we deliver research that is informed by end users, as well as inspired by global challenges and opportunities, to deliver economic and social prosperity.

You’ll enjoy a dynamic and agile culture, with a “can do” attitude, which thrives on breaking new ground.

We look for those with the right knowledge, with creativity and a can-do attitude, who know how to communicate and collaborate. We value people who are inspired by new challenges, who ask questions and propose solutions, who are authentic, engaged and committed to our goals as a university.

The University is embarking on an ambitious plan, Enterprise 25, to place People, Programs and Precincts at the heart of the University’s operations. This will position UniSA as the go-to university for people who want successful global careers, as well as for industry and the professions that want to collaborate with our researchers to drive and create their own futures.

As part of this transformation, we are creating seven new Academic Units to support our Enterprise 25 strategy, and enable a greater focus on the quality of our teaching, research and student experience.

About UniSA STEM Academic Unit

UniSA STEM is a new Academic Unit, creating innovative solutions and ground-breaking developments covering a broad range of disciplines in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through quality teaching, learning and research excellence.

UniSA STEM offers a wide range of degrees and conducts world-class research in the fields of engineering, information technology, aviation, environmental science, science, mathematics, construction and project management. UniSA STEM is at the forefront of cross-disciplinary collaboration and is focused on developing the next wave of innovative thinkers and new possibilities.

Our degrees are designed and delivered to meet the growing needs of industry and the professions, ensuring graduates are career ready and equipped with the skills to adapt to future demands.

About the Job

The Dean of Programs will lead the academic quality, performance and reputation of UniSA’s Science, Information Technology and Mathematics programs and courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, delivered on-campus, online, mixed-mode, offshore, and through partners.

The Dean will provide leadership in teaching quality, curriculum review and innovation and supervision of staff teaching within the programs, collaborating closely with the Dean of Programs responsible for a suite of academic programs within UniSA STEM (covering areas such as Engineering, Aviation, Construction and Project Management), as well as working with the Dean of Research to embed a strong teaching-research-practice nexus in the Unit. The Dean will proactively contribute to the development of research capability through staff associated with the program portfolio.

We are seeking a strategic and visionary leader who will take accountability for the delivery of quality and excellence in all that they do, respond rapidly to emerging internal and external challenges; anticipating and interpreting uncertainty to provide direction for their teams.

An individual with an outstanding record of achievement in strengthening and leading curriculum change, delivering high quality, practice-informed teaching programs and achieving outstanding student satisfaction and graduate outcomes through high performing and committed teams will find this an exciting opportunity to drive knowledge creation and innovation to shape the future of UniSA Science, IT and Mathematics programs.

UniSA recently attained Athena SWAN Bronze accreditation as part of the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) program to promote gender equity and diversity in STEMM in Australia. This is a significant achievement for the University and we are among the first universities in Australia to gain the accreditation.

Our commitment to SAGE aligns with our commitment to growing a diverse workforce and gaining Athena SWAN Bronze is an important first step towards achieving our E25 ambition of being a high performing, culturally enterprising organisation and attaining University wide Gold Accreditation.
