The Australian National University (ANU) is seeking to appoint a Director for its Research School of Earth Sciences. The ANU is ranked amongst the top universities in Australia and the world. The University’s Research School of Earth Science (RSES) is ranked 9^th in the world in the 2019 QS Rankings. The School’s academic staff attract strong research support from a broad range of sources and top students from around Australia and internationally. The people and facilities at RSES deliver world-class research-led undergraduate teaching and postgraduate programs in the Earth sciences.

As Director, you will have overarching responsibility for the quality of the research and teaching in the School, as well as the School budget. You will facilitate and promote a strong culture of innovative research that enhances the international profile of Earth science at ANU, and you will ensure the quality of the curriculum and delivery of the School’s education programs. Reporting to the Dean, ANU College of Science you will be an advocate for the School, as well as a Collegial member of the broader College and University communities.

To be successful in this role you will be a proven academic leader with an excellent research track record in Earth sciences, and a proven record of fostering a culture of excellence. You will have a strong vision for the future of research and education in the Earth sciences, led by the world’s best practice and knowledge of contemporary issues, and you will have a strong commitment to equity and diversity issues.
