The Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (NMS), King’s College London, is seeking a committed, professional and motivated individual to join a large and talented technical team as a Laboratory Technician.

NMS is ambitious and forward-thinking, with an outstanding reputation across a range of disciplines in Engineering, Science and Technology. We continue to strengthen across a range of projects and initiatives to broaden the weight and depth of our disciplines with significant planned growth in student and staff numbers and substantial capital investment in exciting new projects.

The successful candidate will join the growing Department of Chemistry at King’s College London where they will work as a member of the Faculty’s professional services team, providing high quality technical support to the Faculty based primarily at Guy’s Campus, but also covering Waterloo Campus, and if needed occasionally the Strand.

They will assist with the day-to-day operation of the research laboratories and instrumentation, overall supporting all students and research staff. When needed, they will also support the activity of teaching labs.

Applicants should have a minimum level 3 qualification plus work experience in a relevant technical/scientific post or considerable knowledge and skills gained through work experience in a relevant technical or scientific post, with a background in biochemistry, chemistry or related subject. They will be a skilled individual who is self-motivated, highly organised and works well as part of a team.

NMS is a friendly and collegiate Faculty with a focus on people and work/life balance. In this role, you’ll combine an open, warm, professional and diplomatic approach with a focus on confidentiality, tact and diplomacy as you work through a complex balance of both longer-term priorities and the immediate needs of the organisation.

Professional development is a key area for NMS, and you will be encouraged to take advantage of a range of training opportunities via King’s Organisational Development, together with contributing to and benefiting from internal networks of technical and professional services staff.

The selection process will include a panel interview.
