Job Purpose
The overall job purpose is to drive the strategic direction of academic quality management within the school across the following areas:
Academic Leadership and Quality Culture
Drive the maintenance and promotion of institutional effectiveness of quality assurance within the school in line with University Regulations and additional requirements by ensuring that quality assurance and enhancement are appropriately considered across all teams and activities
Represent the school as the main contact for central and group Academic Quality teams (University and Apprenticeships) which will include supporting the group and the University in the achievement and maintenance of ITDAP, engagement with central quality committees and action plans
Work closely with the Head of Compliance and Reporting, Head of Academic Staffing and Programme teams to develop a collaborative quality culture
Quality Assurance Framework, Policies and Standards
Lead, support and develop the quality team to have impact across the school in
embedding appropriate quality assurance systems, processes, policies and measures to support and ensure the effectiveness of teaching, learning, coaching and student support to achieve the required outcomes in line with Group, University, School and Regulator KPI’s
KPI’s, Reporting and Risk Management
Manage a risk register in line with expected quality KPI’s, highlighting areas of concern and areas of best practice, feeding into school KPI’s and monthly dashboard
Academic Administration
Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of academic administration including validation, modification, development, continuous programme monitoring, assessment, evaluation and feedback and overall performance analysis
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership and Quality Culture
- Provide assurance to the Dean of the school that group academic quality and standards and regulations are appropriately in place throughout the design, development and delivery of programmes.
- Oversee the design and embedding of a quality assurance culture within the School, providing guidance and managing change as appropriate
- Facilitate the harmonisation of polices, regulations and regulatory processes across degree programmes and degree apprenticeship programmes to create wherever possible streamlined and consistent approaches to QA, clearly articulating consistency, compliance and formal approaches to development
- Act in an advisory capacity within the school to interpret academic and apprenticeship regulations, seeking advice from central teams where appropriate
- Contribute and act as the school lead on internal audits conducted by the Central Quality teams
- On behalf of the school, support the central quality teams by contributing to the development and continual enhancement of the university's internal regulations and policies ensuring that the context of the school is accounted for and fully understood.
- Develop, communicate and implement a school wide Academic Quality Improvement Plan based on the actions arising out of central committees, student, client and examiner feedback and risks identified through KPI's relating to expected outcomes

Candidate criteria
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of an M Level qualification
- Experience in a management role within HE
- Demonstrable experience of key aspects of the regulatory landscape in HE
- Experience at managing complex activities involving multiple teams and delivering to target
Knowledge and Understanding
- An understanding of regulation and compliance
- Familiarity with key education regulators, for example OFSTED, OFS, QAA, TEF
- An understanding of how to design and develop effective education programmes at L6 and L7
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to lead a team and drive performance
- Ability to influence and support stakeholders
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Proven ability to work with data and a wide range of complex regulatory documentation
- Ability to set up and enhance systems and processes
- Comfortable in working through communication technology (e.g. Skype, Teams)
- Self-motivated and able to advise and make decisions
- Good networker and team player
