About the College/Role

School of Science

The School of Science provides over 45 bachelor and postgraduate programs, and undertakes world class research across the disciplines of Biosciences and Food Technology, Chemistry and Environmental Science, Physics, Mathematical Sciences, Geospatial Sciences and Computer Science (Information Technology and Software Engineering).

One of RMIT's top-performing research schools, we deliver research that addresses the 'real life questions' essential to Australia's innovation agenda. Our high-quality teaching programs inspire students to pursue careers in a range of industries including biotechnology, health, materials technology, food, geospatial and surveying, environmental science, banking and commerce, as well as computing and IT roles and research and development across a wide range of areas. The School has staff, students and facilities on both the City and Bundoora campuses, has 300 staff, 450 higher degree research students, over 3800 coursework students and an annual budget of $140 million

As a Research Fellow in Distributed Systems you will:

  • Work independently as well as collaboratively with the team in contributing to quality research publications in high impact journals and developing new research initiatives
  • You will conduct research activities for the Australian Research Council Discovery Human Activity Sensing with Wireless Signal which includes developing and identifying theory in radio-based human activity sensing
  • Contribute to validation of the research theoretical framework in the following areas on:
  • Radio signal propagation and discovering of its properties in radio-based sensing systems
  • Designing a realistic sensing model by extending the current basic model, and define a set of key design principles in guiding a practical system design for real-life applications

About You

As a Special Measures female and/or Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples applicant, you will have:

  • Solid theoretical foundation, data analytics and strong system implementation skills in mobile and wireless sensing systems
  • A good track record in publishing in Mobile/Ubiquitous/Wireless Communication areas
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required

Qualifications

This position requires PhD in Computer Science/ Wireless Communication
