The Center for Energy Systems at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) in Moscow, invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position to work with Prof. Federico Ibanez on the study of control of power electronics, multilevel and resonant converters for energy applications. This project has both theoretical and experimental components mainly because the candidate must work in the control strategies of real prototypes which should be validated in the lab in the kW range.

The successful applicant will primarily be in charge of the day-to-day development of the research project, she/he will take an active part in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and will present papers and posters at international conferences. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to assist with the supervision of Skoltech Master Students and possibly PhD students, and will be encouraged to actively participate in bid writing to secure external funding.

Suitable applicants are expected to have strong team working skills, a genuine interest for innovation, be ready to interact with industrialists if the opportunity arises, and have documented expertise or strong interests in at least one of the following areas:

• Power electronics, DC/AC and DC/DC converter design (essential).
• Classic and modern control theory (essential)
• Energy systems and applications (essential).
• PCB design and well knowledge in measurement in power electronics (highly desirably).
• Strong skills in writing scientific articles and proposals for external funding (essential).
• Strong programming skills (desirable).

An ability to develop and maintain an international network of experts in the field relevant to the project is a plus.

The starting date is negotiable, but the successful applicant should start no later than April 2020.

A relevant PhD or equivalent qualification is required. The position is open to both young PhD graduates and experienced researchers. The salary is competitive on the international level, and commensurate with experience, qualifications and previous publication record. Excellent travel and computing support will also be provided.
