Senior Research Assistant
Faculty of Business and Law

Applications are invited for a 2 year fixed term senior research position working on a funded research project about systems change. This would be an exciting opportunity for someone interested in applied social research.
We would be willing to consider a fractional basis or job share. This job could be Newcastle based (with significant travel) or London based.

The project supports Lankelly Chase Foundation 'place inquiry' in places which are applying systems change practice. The Senior RA will apply an action research approach in each place to support the learning process, embedding themselves in the places. The work will involve

  1. Applying relevant research methodologies to capture information about how each system is working and facilitate their reflective practice.
  2. Working with places to develop effective learning processes.
  3. Developing knowledge from relevant theory and contributing to reports, publications and dissemination to academic and practitioner audiences.
  4. Planning and managing your own time in the context of the wider project team.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the Place Inquiries as an Action Researcher, embedding themselves in the inquiry places, and working on the management, analysis, and feeding back of data.

The candidate will work with Dr Hannah Hesselgreaves, Dr Toby Lowe, and Dr Max French.  The candidate will also have the opportunity to work and interact with other research groups interested in systems change and learning in place.

The ideal candidate will have or be working towards the completion of a PhD in a social science or another relevant discipline. Experience in qualitative research is essential and previous experience of working on research projects is desirable.
