Job description
Pathway: Research
We're looking to expand our Financial Services (FS) provision in response to the significant changes in the financial sector particularly in the areas of financial technology, data analytics, cyber security and artificial intelligence as well as the growing regulatory requirements. As a result, we are ideally looking for someone with a broad FS knowledge and experience.
The successful candidate will join a very successful and ambitious Accounting & Finance Group and contribute to our recently refreshed suite of postgraduate programmes, offered in Edinburgh, Hong Kong and mainland China.

The role
You will join the Accountancy, Finance & Law Subject Group in the School, an ambitious and growing team consisting of academics on Research, Professional Practice and Learning and Teaching pathways who make significant contributions across all strands of endeavour. Your contribution on the Research pathway will be in the area of Financial Services / Finance.
Your experience might be drawn from the wider Financial Services / Finance & Accounting sectors. You will be responsible for the growth and development of research and commercial activity and within the Financial Services Group.
You will be able to demonstrate a significant contribution to generating external income from research and a sustained record of quality academic outputs and be eligible under the REF 2021 framework.
You will be responsible for developing, designing and delivering teaching and student centred learning underpinned by academic research and scholarship, within your assigned areas of responsibility. Some travel will be required as a number of our programmes/modules are delivered internationally.
Who we are looking for
- Academic qualification in relevant discipline at least to postgraduate level and either a Doctoral level qualification or a relevant professional qualification.
- Quants/stats/financial mathematics experience is beneficial
- Evidence of a strong academic research profile alongside a commitment to sustained continuous professional/academic development
- Sufficient breadth and depth of experience in a financial services specialism to develop high quality teaching/learning and research programmes and have experience of research led teaching
- Demonstrable evidence of a teaching specialisation
- Well-developed leadership and management capabilities
