Both the supply chain management and information systems disciplines are housed in the Business School's Department of Business Information Systems (BIS). The BIS Department is a dynamic and ambitious team of academics actively engaged in scholarly conversations and passionate for teaching. We have an established PhD programme, are experiencing a growing interest in supply chain management in the Bachelor of Business degree and are preparing a new master's qualification in supply chain management. We conduct research on different aspects of supply chain management, including circular and sustainable supply chains, supply chain integration, new technology application in supply chain management, among others.

The Role

We have permanent, full-time opportunities for Lecturers, Senior Lecturers or Associate Professors in Supply Chain Management. We welcome applications from candidates committed to conducting high-quality research and with evidence of excellence in teaching (or the demonstrated ability to develop such excellence) and dedicated to helping the department grow.

You will be expected to publish actively in your specialised field; research is well supported within the Business School. It is also expected that over time the successful candidate will seek external research funding, engage with government, business, the professions and/or the community, and contribute to School/Faculty activities. Interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities exist across the School. You'll teach across programmes as agreed with the Head of Department and contribute to paper development. We embrace innovative practice-led, as well as research-informed, approaches to teaching where the student experience is optimised.

Appointment level and salary will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Key requirements for the role

Qualification:

• PhD (or very close to completion) in supply chain management or related disciplines (e.g. logistics or transportation)

Research and Scholarship:

• Research interests in supply chain management and a commitment to engage in rigorous and relevant research.
• An early career academic will have the basis of a solid research pipeline in supply chain management, more experienced candidates will already have a proven research track record with quality publications and ideally, success in external funding bids.

Teaching and Learning:

• Candidates should be able to demonstrate their dedication to teaching activities at undergraduate and postgraduate including MBA. More experienced candidates will have previous lecturing experience, evidence of curriculum development and also ideally experience supervising Masters and/or PhD students.
• Experience in innovative teaching practices will be an advantage.

Note: Candidates for the Associate Professor position must have a proven, solid research record of high-quality publications (with a substantial theoretical contribution in reputable peer-reviewed journals) and sustained outstanding contributions in academic leadership and service (required to be appointed to the professoriate).

Start Date: The successful candidate(s) would ideally be able to join the BIS team no later than early July 2020.
