About the position

We have a vacancy for a Project Manager for the NTNU Applied Underwater Robotics Laboratory at the Department of Marine Technology.

Are you our new project manager? We are expanding our infrastructure as well as research and education activities to meet the increased level of activity. Join us to create better services for underwater robotics research. Through new infrastructure, we will create better solutions for future underwater operations supporting marine research and industry project. The Applied underwater robotics laboratory (AUR-Lab) together with NTNU AMOS have a productive and inspiring world-class research environment.

At the Department of Marine Technology, the position as Project Manager is open. The scope of work for the position will be project management of investments and upgrades of research infrastructure and support research projects.

The position reports to Professor Martin Ludvigsen.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Project management. Assist in existing project with reporting, documentation, progress monitoring, outreach, dissemination.
  • Project acquisitions assisting in the development of proposals for research agencies in Norway and EU, governmental bodies and industry.
  • Organization of research infrastructure development and operations.
  • Execution of field operations and research campaigns including data management.
  • Carry out own research on relevant topics including publishing results.
  • Assist on supervising students and researhers at MSc and PhD level.

The position is part of a community at the Department of Marine Technology and AMOS, consisting of researchers, MSc students, PhD candidates, Postdocs and engineers. Workplace will be at both the Department of Marine Technology and Trondhjem Biological Station. Travels related to projects and research campaigns must be expected.

Qualification requirements

  • Relevant experience in research project management
  • MSc education from a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification
  • Good English skills

Desired qualifications 

  • PhD degree in a relevant discipline
  • Network in relevant research communities
  • Experience work with engineering research and experimental systems
  • Good skills in Norwegian language

  • Strong motivation for the subject
  • Capability to work efficiently both independently and in teams
  • Service minded, flexible mindset

In the evaluation of which candidate is best qualified, emphasis will be placed on education, experience and personal suitability, as well as motivation, in terms of the qualification requirements specified in the advertisement.

We offer

Salary and conditions

The gross salary for the position of Project Manager code 1113 is normally remunerated at gross from NOK 479 600 – 723 200 before tax per year, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2 % is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. 

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criterias in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.
