Working at MIT offers opportunities, an environment, a culture – and benefits – that just aren’t found together anywhere else. If you’re curious, motivated, want to be part of a unique community, and help shape the future – then take a look at this opportunity.

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE IBiological Engineering, to help start the lab of Assistant Professor Anders Hansen (opening February 1, 2020) and spearhead--independently or with postdocs/graduate students--its first research projects. The responsibilities will be divided between research activities and lab administration. The research is focused on understanding the interplay between genome organization and regulation of gene expression in mammals. Will use a combination of mammalian tissue culture, live-cell super-resolution fluorescence microscopy, molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, and computational approaches with the goal of understanding how genome organization and gene expression is regulated during development and differentiation and how dysregulation of these processes causes disease, which may ultimately allow to correct genome misfolding in disease. Will perform cloning of DNA constructs for genome-editing and assist with CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome-editing of mouse and human cells, including tissue culture of cell lines; conduct biochemical and genomic experiments (e.g., Western Blotting, ChIP-Seq); conduct high-resolution live-cell fluorescence microscopy experiments; analyze genomic and imaging data computationally; maintain lab supplies/inventory/reagents; ensure regulatory and safety compliance; assist with new member on-boarding; and perform other tasks as needed.

This position is ideal for a recent/soon-to-be graduate looking for additional training before entering graduate/medical school. A full description is available at https://www.ashansenlab.com/research.html.
