RESEARCH/CLINICAL VETERINARIANDivision of Comparative Medicine (DCM), to serve as a key member of DCM leadership, managing the animal health care and clinical services within the MIT and Whitehead animal facilities. Will conduct independent and/or collaborative research and mentor postdoctoral trainees; participate in collaborative or independent research focusing on the utilization of novel genome editing techniques in common marmosets for the generation of animal models; oversee the operation of the marmoset colony including provision of clinical care, management of breeding operations, and implementation of the preventative health care program; train postdoctoral fellows, veterinary technicians, research technicians, and other research staff on humane handling, clinical procedures, and research techniques employed in the care and research utilization of common marmosets; assist with the provision of clinical care to other laboratory animal species; participate in the mentorship, education, and training of DCM postdoctoral and summer fellows in comparative medicine; collaborate with the chief of surgical resources and chief of primate resources on monitoring the operation of the animal facilities, ensuring that SOPs are being followed and that researchers are supported adequately and are following DCM guidelines, and contributing to the continuing education program for the division's animal technicians; communicate with MIT staff and faculty regarding animal health and welfare issues and animal model development; and directly supervise postdoctoral fellows, research technicians, and veterinary technicians. 

Job Requirements
REQUIRED:  a DVM from an AVMA-accredited institution, a license to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state, and at least three years of primate experience.  New world primate experience is preferred.  ACLAM board certification highly desirable.  Job #18067
