Problems under investigation include the detection of nuclear materials in the flow of commerce, nuclear detection in public spaces, and nuclear techniques for treaty monitoring and arms control verification.  Will work with faculty and graduate students in building experiments, doing simulations and data analysis, and developing detectors.  Will also be encouraged to develop and propose ideas of your own. May teach courses in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering and support the preparation of research proposals.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics, particle physics, nuclear engineering, or a related field; strong computational skills (e.g., C/C++, python, etc.) in a Linux/UNIX-based environment; experience performing data analysis and MC simulations; an interest in applying nuclear physics applications towards societal problems; and familiarity with standard methods of nuclear radiation detection.  Experience with digital data acquisition systems would be a plus. Job#18375

The initial appointment is for twelve months with the possibility of renewal based upon mutual interest and the availability of funding.
