SENIOR RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Center for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS)- Bioimaging and Chemical Analysis Facilities Core (BCAFC) (part-time, 25 hrs/wk.), to handle the daily operational needs of the CEHS Bioimaging and Chemical Analysis Facilities Core (CEHS-BCAFC); provide guidance to CEHS-BCAFC users in best practices and proper use of a wide range of mass spectrometry instrumentation, starting with the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS); maintain instrumentation at the highest level of capability and readiness; provide monthly billing data and instrument use patterns and prepare reports; work with the BCAFC program manager who acts as a liaison between the CEHS-BCAFC and users (this network assures that users are apprised of the best technology for specific research projects); and fulfil the role of safety coordinator. Will work closely with scientific staff to coordinate instructions and guidance of new and existing users in the proper usage of CEHS-BCAFC instrumentation (HPLC, Agilent Q-TOF, Agilent Triple Quad, LC/MSD, GC/MS, Q Exactive Orbitrap MS, and Agilent ICP-MS); assist the Facilities Core program manager with MS instrument acquisition, upgrades, and repairs; assist with the preparation of annual progress report and competing renewal applications to NIH for the CEHS-BCAFC; maintain and track the CEHS-BCAFC user database; maintain the CEHS-BCAFC instrumentation--HPLC, Agilent Q-TOF, Agilent Triple Quad, LC/MSD, GC/MS, Q Exactive Orbitrap, and Agilent ICP-MS and resolve any necessary issues related to these instruments; order necessary gas and core supplies; and perform other duties as directed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: some experience with modern analytical techniques; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and faculty with diverse research needs/ interests. B.S or M.S. in chemistry or related field preferred. Job #17278-5
Schedule to be determined, but will work five hours a day, Monday through Friday.
