TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE IBiological Engineering, to assist investigators doing research at the cutting edge of therapeutic CRISPR, siRNA, and mRNA delivery using synthetic nucleic acid assemblies. Primary responsibilities will include nucleic acid synthesis including solid-state synthesis, enzymatic synthesis, and/or bacterial synthesis and validation and purification of products including capillary electrophoresis, PAGE, mass spec, and HPLC; production and purification of hybrid DNA/RNA/protein complexes using FPLC, quantitative validation with qPCR, FACS, agarose gel electrophoresis, PAGE, and fluorescence; cell transfection; and gene target validation using qRT-PCR and next-generation sequencing. Additional duties will include managing and ordering laboratory supplies, assisting with lab safety management, and ensuring proper maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Job Requirements

REQUIREDbachelor's degree (M.S. preferred) in bioengineering, biology, chemical engineering, chemistry or related technical discipline; at least two years’ laboratory technician experience in a research lab setting; experience in biochemistry and molecular biology including with primer design, cloning and PCR, gel electrophoresis, HPLC and purification, fluorescence, Western blot, and cell culture; willingness to learn new techniques and protocols; ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow complex instructions, plan and troubleshoot experiments independently, and respond to the dynamic needs of the lab; self-motivation; detail-orientation; and excellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to carefully document and maintain work in detailed written records.

Some night and weekend work will be required.

This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension based upon continued funding.
