The successful applicant will be an outstanding political scientist whose research focuses on the broad area of public policy in emerging economies. Within this rubric there is no restriction regarding the specific field of research. They will join a multidisciplinary team currently working on a wide range of topics including political economy, inequality and poverty, gender rights, natural resources, international trade, migration, health policy, and other pressing issues facing emerging economies today.

Applicants should demonstrate evidence of relevant research and teaching and fulfil the requirements of either Senior Lecturer or Reader level as specified in the job pack available at the King’s College London application portal. The ability to teach on more than one of the following areas, with application to middle-income countries, would be an advantage: introductory political theory; comparative politics; political economy; public policy; sustainable development; public finance;     politics of health and / or environment.

The Department of International Development is a young, innovative and contemporary development studies department. Our focus is on middle-income developing countries and ‘emerging economies’, meaning the fast growing economies of the developing world where foreign aid is largely irrelevant. The mission is to explore the sources of success as well as understand the major development challenges they continue to face.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time post.

The selection process will include a panel interview and a presentation.
