FISCAL OFFICERBrain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS), to oversee all financial-related activity, including sponsored, non-sponsored, and general accounts administered through the department.  Will oversee the development, consistency, and implementation of the department’s accounting and financial management methodology and infrastructure.  Will be responsible for the effective day-to-day administration of the department’s sponsored research activity and general institute budget and endowed funds, graduate funding projections, annual budget preparations, handling daily transactions, and conducting closing activities. Responsibilities also include providing financial reports, summaries, analysis, forecasts, and resource needs assessments while coordinating with department staff to ensure proactive and effective financial planning; working with BCS core investigators, pre-award, to submit grants through various award submission mechanisms; handling post-award administration of no cost extensions, revised budgets, closeouts, etc.; managing salary distributions in conjunction with the administrative officer; tracking cost sharing and under recovery commitments; assisting with annual budget preparation for the department; overseeing the petty cash process; and directly supervising one financial assistant.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least five years of relevant experience with federal grants and contracts and/or financial administration in a higher education, research, or nonprofit setting; proficiency with Microsoft Office; excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills; attention to detail; and ability to work independently. Seek someone who enjoys working with people at all levels in a challenging environment.  PREFERRED:  knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; and MIT experience.  Job #18332-9
