Programmes and Operational Director – Bristol Digital Future Institute (BDFI)

Job number SUPP106001
Division/School Research and Enterprise Development
Contract type Open Ended
Working pattern Full time
Salary Competitive Salary Plus Benefits

The Research and Enterprise Division are excited to be recruiting a Programmes and Operational Director to lead on the delivery of the Bristol Digital Futures Institute (BDFI).

As digital technologies continue to transform our world, we need urgent intervention to ensure that the digital innovations we create in the present are underpinned by in-depth, systematic and thorough understanding of the futures we may be creating for generations to come.  The BDFI will address these challenges to become a world-leader in responsible innovation, transforming the way we create new technologies to benefit our society.

The Programmes and Operations Director will work with senior University of Bristol academic staff, including the two Institute Co-Directors, as well as senior professional service colleagues to establish the Institute.  In the first instance the primary focus will be the phased delivery of the new institute from pilot through scale up to full scale facility in the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus by 2023.  It is then anticipated there will be other substantial projects for the role to deliver. Throughout the programme the role holder will need to collaborate closely with the Temple Quarter Programme team to ensure complementarity and consistency with the ambition of the Temple Quarter Enterprise campus.

This is a challenging leadership role which requires experience and expertise working at a senior level.  We are looking for someone who has the drive and determination to lead on a highly ambitious project cutting across traditional academic boundaries, and who is comfortable working in a complex multi-stakeholder environment. In particular the role needs someone with a track record of successful delivery against challenging targets and timescales. You will have solid programme management, analytical and relationship management experience and a passion for digital innovation.

The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Sunday 23rd February 2020.

For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Alison Evans, Director of Research Contracts, Governance & Innovation, via alison.evans@bristol.ac.uk.

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
