Exciting opportunity for a dedicated, enthusiastic Large Animal Veterinary Theriogenologist to join a veterinary program rated in the global Top 50

The University of Adelaide’s School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences has achieved outstanding levels of excellence in 11 years of operation.  The School’s veterinary program leapt into the Global Top 50 in the 2019 QS academic discipline rankings and received an ERA evaluation rating at level 5 (well above international standard) in the 2019 Excellence for Research in Australia evaluation round.  The School provides exceptional outcome-based education and training of animal and veterinary scientists in a strong research environment, consisting of world leading multi-disciplinary teams that provide opportunities for cross disciplinary research, education and innovation in animal health and welfare.

The School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic specialist in large animal veterinary reproduction/theriogenology. Provisionally based in the Department of Equine Health and Performance, there will be a requirement to contribute to clinical services in equine and bovine theriogenology.  Strong, collegial support will be available from experienced academic specialists and pathologists, veterinary nurses, client services personnel and technical support staff.

The appointee will be expected to develop a strong research profile while providing high quality teaching in large animal (equine and ruminant) theriogenology, to motivated veterinary students and veterinary technology students.

There is considerable scope to be involved in research within the School, and an individual with a clinical and/or research background in advanced reproductive technologies in large animals, who could enhance the current capabilities within the School, would be ideally suited to the position.

We invite applications from suitable candidates, whether you have recently completed a residency in veterinary theriogenology or have acquired significant experience.

To be successful you will need: 

• A Qualification in Veterinary Science acceptable for registration in South Australia.
• A completed residency in Veterinary Reproduction/Theriogenology.
• Experience in the delivery of large animal clinical theriogenology services.
• Demonstrated ability in teaching veterinary reproduction/theriogenology at undergraduate and/or DVM level
• Evidence of a publication record in veterinary theriogenology
